For non-emergency illnesses and injuries, we offer an Urgent Care - Cass City

As the first Level IV Trauma Facility in Michigan, Hills & Dales became a designated part of the State-Wide Trauma System; endeavoring to help improve the care and outcomes provided to all trauma patients. Hills & Dales provides evaluation, stabilization, and diagnostic capabilities for injured patients. Some of the key components of the designation include:

Having basic emergency department facilities to implement ATLS (Advanced Trauma Life Support) protocols with 24-hour laboratory and radiology coverage.
Ensuring the nursing staff and physicians have initial and ongoing training in trauma care.
Having developed transfer agreements for patients requiring more comprehensive care at a Level I, II, or III Trauma Center.
Incorporating a comprehensive quality assessment program
Being involved with prevention efforts and having an active outreach program for referring communities.

What does Level IV Trauma Facility mean for patients? The designation means that critical patients may come to Hills & Dales, be stabilized, and be transferred to a Level I, II, or III facility as needed. Both Covenant and St. Mary’s in Saginaw are Level II trauma facilities. You may wonder how this is different from what Hills & Dales currently does. The criteria a hospital must meet to become a Level IV trauma facility makes them better equipped to receive critical patients.
