Hills & Dales’ Emergency Department provides high-quality emergency care 24 hours a day, 365 days per year, and is equipped to handle a full range of medical emergencies and injuries. The Emergency Department is staffed with Board Certified/Board Eligible physicians and nurses with advanced trauma certifications, as well as certifications in both adult and pediatric life support.

As the first Level IV Trauma Facility in Michigan, Hills & Dales became a designated part of the State-Wide Trauma System; endeavoring to help improve the care and outcomes provided to all trauma patients. Hills & Dales provides evaluation, stabilization, and diagnostic capabilities for injured patients. Some of the key components of the designation include:
What does Level IV Trauma Facility mean for patients? The designation means that critical patients may come to Hills & Dales, be stabilized, and be transferred to a Level I, II, or III facility as needed. Both Covenant and St. Mary’s in Saginaw are Level II trauma facilities. You may wonder how this is different from what Hills & Dales currently does. The criteria a hospital must meet to become a Level IV trauma facility makes them better equipped to receive critical patients.
